June Yun is a London-raised, NYC & Berlin–based vocalist and composer originally from Seoul, South Korea. Born in Korea and raised in London from age five, she was introduced to classical music by her father, an architect and avid music lover. After returning to Korea, she explored pop, R&B, and soul, studying songwriting and lyric writing at music college. Following graduation, she released a collaboration debut single with renowned ’90s Korean singer Seunghwa Park, in a project sponsored by KBS, Korea’s largest national TV and radio network. Despite receiving offers from major Korean labels, Yun moved to New York to study jazz, seeking deeper artistic growth. Since then, she has developed a distinctive voice shaped by traditional and modern jazz, free jazz, and classical influences.

Yun has studied and performed with influential artists including Jean Baylor, Theo Bleckmann, Shai Maestro, Joel Ross, Ingrid Jensen, Amy London, Mike Moreno, Jeremy Manasia, and Dr. Richard Harper. She has performed her original music and a wide range of genres at leading NYC venues including Dizzy’s Club, Smalls Jazz Club, John Tishman Auditorium, and Mercury Lounge. Yun holds a BFA with honors from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and a Master’s degree from Manhattan School of Music. She also studied music education and has been teaching for eight years, guiding many students in their growth.

Her compositional debut album, Enlightenment – Solid Waves (released October 27, 2023), features eight original works composed and arranged by Yun. She invited Shai Maestro (piano), Kanoa Mendenhall (bass), Jongkuk Kim (drums), Vid Jamnik (vibraphone), Brad Kang (guitar) and Nicola Caminiti (alto sax) to be on board. Created during a period of self-reflection, the music captures emotions often lost in today’s fast-moving world. For Yun, “light” represents the community and people whose energy helped her overcome past darkness. The album stands as both a reminder to remain present and a tribute to those who made the journey possible.

Yun’s music has been featured on All About Jazz, ARS Slovenian National Radio, ABC Radio, Jazz Views UK, LA Jazz Scene, Jazz Avenue Korea, Jazz People Korea, and more. Deeply influenced by jazz, classical music, R&B, Korean traditional music, and pop, she continues to compose and perform internationally.
